2D animation is a creative process where characters, objects, and environments are drawn and animated in a two-dimensional space. Unlike 3D, which adds depth, 2D relies on height and width to bring visuals to life. Animators use frame-by-frame drawings or digital tools to create movement, making characters walk, talk, or interact in ways that feel natural and expressive.
This type of animation is widely used in cartoons, advertising, explainer videos, mobile applications, and even modern films. Its charm lies in its simplicity, stylistic flexibility, and the ability to convey stories in a clear and engaging way.

In digital art and animation, illustration is the foundation where characters, objects, and environments are first designed and visualized. This stage focuses on shape, color, and style to bring ideas to life on a flat canvas. Rigging comes afterward, acting as the bridge between still art and animation. It’s the process of creating a skeleton or control system inside the illustrated characters, so they can move, bend, or perform actions naturally. Together, illustration defines how things look, while rigging defines how they move, making static drawings ready for dynamic storytelling.
